About Us

Our vision is pretty simple! We are called to love Jesus, and share that love with our neighbors in Portland, Maine.

Beyond that, here are some core values that we strive to maintain in our worship:

TRINITARIAN – We want to honor all three Persons of the Trinity – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – equally, and to revel in our triune God.

WHOLE COUNSEL – We want to live out an appreciation for every single word of Scripture – the whole counsel – and we believe every word of the Bible is for today.

INTIMACY – We see intimacy with God as the ONE THING, the main focus of our teaching and life.

FELLOWSHIP – We desire to cultivate servant hearts and true spiritual fellowship with one another.

FREEDOM – We seek to help one another become free from oppression and bondage, and to be creative, raw, wild, and real in our lives and worship.

Our Leadership

Sam Caldwell

Lover of Jesus, Pastor

Pastor Sam sees himself as a "lover of Jesus," and he tries not to take himself too seriously (as you can see in the picture to the right)! He lives with his wife and toddler in the Greater Portland Area, where they enjoy playing music, hiking, reading, evangelizing, and serving Christ’s church together. Sam was ordained to the gospel ministry at Grace and Glory Church in February of 2021. He became the pastor of Deering Center Community Church in October of 2023 after the retirement of Don Drake, their beloved pastor of over 30 years.

Sam studied at University of Toronto, and has taught at Tyndale College and Seminary in Toronto, Ontario, and New England Bible College in Bangor, Maine.

His passions are preaching, prayer, revival, the heart of the Father, the power of the Holy Spirit, and reaching lost souls with the love of Jesus.
